Going Big

A lot of days, our work at REACH is pretty mundane – a copy change here, a design tweak there, a meeting after that – lots of small details with small accounts that are important to do well but … well … small. So every once in a while it feels good to do something big. To go for it. That’s what we did today.

I just dropped off five copies of our 37-page social marketing proposal to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. We’re only pitching a portion of their marketing plan and, truth be told, we probably don’t have much of a shot. But it feels good to go for it.

We worked hard on the proposal (especially Amyjo). We had good ideas. Really new and insightful ideas, I thought, which is a hard thing to do. And we presented them well. Whether we win the bid or not, it felt good to sign all those forms and know that our proposal, if for no other reason than its originality, is going to be considered by a big client alongside agencies 10 times our size.

Who knows? Maybe we’ll shock the world. But even if we don’t, we at least have something to celebrate this weekend. Amyjo … Jeremy … Christine … congratulations. Now that it’s 4:30 on Friday, take the rest of the week off.
